What we Believe

Home / What we Believe

Our Mission

Loveland First United Methodist Church strives to bless and serve our local and world communities while living the teachings of Jesus Christ. We accept people as they are and strive to live in harmony with God and all of divine creation.

All Are Accepted Just as They Are

At FUMC Loveland we believe that all have sacred worth and are beloved children of God. Therefore, we strive to accept all people as they are as we welcome them into our community. Our inclusion knows no boundaries or conditions. Leadership at FUMC recognizes that the church has not always succeeded in loving the way Christ calls us to; therefore, we hope to reconcile our relationship with the community by loving all our neighbors and by serving our communities.

Bless and Serve

We believe in doing all the good we can in all the ways we can. Therefore, we strive to bless and serve the local and world communities to our fullest ability. Our church and missions team provide a variety of services for the communities including, but not limited to, financial giving, affordable rental space, service projects, and more!

Disciples of Jesus Christ

We believe and strive to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ; peace, love, hope, justice, and acceptance. Being disciples of Christ means we strive to live into these values while we cultivate our personal and communal spiritual lives. Through following these teachings and grace we may develop our relationship with the triune God (Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer) so that we may live more sanctified lives.

United Methodist Heritage

As United Methodist we celebrate and live into our Wesleyan roots. John Wesley taught that all receive freely given grace (prevenient grace). By faith we move into a life of salvation (justifying grace) and begin the process of further cultivating our relationship with God (sanctifying grace) so that we may be made perfect in God’s love.

First United Methodist Church

We have a motto:

Open hearts. Open minds. Open doors.

And we strive to be an open and accepting congregation. You are welcome here – just as you are!

It is important that we open our hearts wide – to each other, to the Loveland community, and to the world. It is not unusual for our congregation to be found sorting through food drive donations, volunteering for local non-profits, visiting folks in the hospital, hosting a homeless family in our building, or constructing a home in Guatemala. Whenever possible, we try to love our neighbors as best we can. That often means we find ourselves in service, in this community as well as around the world.

It is just as important that we open our minds wide. We are a diverse congregation. And because we’re not all cut from the same cloth, we want to learn from one another. This is a space where people can find opportunities to grow in their faith and to learn more about the abundant and joyful life God offers us all.

Finally, it is important that we open our doors wide. Wide enough for everyone. (Seriously. Everyone.) Whether you are white or black or brown or green, gay or straight or not sure, old, young or somewhere in between, whether or not you like “organized religion,” whether you like to attend church regularly or wonder if the building will collapse if you enter… you get the idea. It doesn’t matter who you are – we hope everybody can find warm friendship, genuine acceptance, and a spiritual home in this community of faith.

On this site you can find opportunities to serve, you can learn about our various ministries, you can search archives of sermons, and more. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please call or email.

I hope you will visit soon!
